Newenka DuMont became active in the gifted community in order to be a better advocate for her girls who have reached their twenties. She now looks for opportunities to pass on what she learned and help other parents who struggle with some of the extremes of raising gifted children. She is the current president and a founding member of the Chicago Gifted Community Center, she is working with the Illinois Association for Gifted Children as a member of their board, and she is a trained SENG Parent Group master facilitator.
